Whir support
Whir estimates the API-equivalent value of local Claude Code and Codex usage. These steps cover the Mac App Store version.
How do I connect my usage?
- Open Whir from the Mac menu bar.
- Choose Grant ~/.claude… or Grant ~/.codex… for a tool you use. The folder picker opens at the expected folder; confirm that folder and choose Grant.
- Open the panel to see today's estimate. Use History to inspect earlier periods.
One folder is enough to start. You do not need to connect a tool you do not use, provide an API key, or share your sign-in details.
Why is today's value zero?
The headline covers today, not all your past usage. If you have not used the tool today, check History for earlier activity. A missing log source is different from zero usage: look for a connection prompt or No logs found.
What if I see “No logs found” or a missing provider?
- Confirm that Claude Code or Codex has written usage logs on this Mac. Activity from another computer does not appear automatically.
- In the panel's settings, use Re-grant ~/.claude… or Re-grant ~/.codex… to reconnect the correct folder. Select the tool's folder, not your entire home folder.
- If a folder is hidden, press Command-Shift-. in the macOS folder picker to show hidden folders.
- After reconnecting, use Refresh in the panel and allow the first scan to finish. Choose an earlier period in History if there is no activity today.
If you use a custom log location and these steps do not help, contact support with the tool name and Whir version. Do not attach your raw logs or authentication files.
Is this my bill or remaining quota?
No. Whir multiplies recorded token usage by model prices to estimate its API-equivalent value. A subscription is charged differently. The comparison with a monthly subscription is not a refund, a savings guarantee, or a measurement of remaining plan allowance.
A model without a known price can show — rather than a cost. That does not mean its usage was free.
Does Whir need internet?
Usage calculations happen locally. Settings → Update model prices automatically controls an optional price-table download from GitHub. With it off, Whir uses locally available prices, which may become outdated. The download does not upload your usage logs; the hosting service receives your IP address as with other web requests.
See the current Whir privacy policy.
Still need help?
Email oddfinilabs@gmail.com with your macOS version, Whir version, the affected tool, and what you expected to see. A screenshot is useful after removing project names and other personal information. Do not send API keys, passwords, raw usage logs, authentication files, or private code.
